CLUB NEWS

LASSWADE - OPEN COMBINED FITA. (BRS) – OCTOBER 21ST 2007

A few more details with regard to the above especially if you have entered as, although the shoot is not until next month, it will probably be fully subscribed by now.

Morning Session(25 metres)

This session will start at 9.40 am. With 2 ends of 3 sighting arrows per archer.

The following faces will be shot at: - RECURVES -- 60 cm.-- FULL FACE.

COMPOUNDS -- 60 cm. --3 SPOT   VERTICAL FACE.

5dozen arrows will be shot in ends of 3 with 2 minutes to shoot the 3 arrows. As per FITA rules all arrow holes should be marked BEFORE - you withdraw the arrows.

 Afternoon session (18metres)

The start of this session will be announced after the 25metre session is ended. The only difference from the 25metre session is that the following faces will be shot at: -

RECURVES—40cm. – FULL FACE

COMPOUNDS—40cm.—3 SPOT VERTICAL FACE.

 At Both Sessions

For all sighting arrows (which are also timed) archers A and B will shoot both sighting ends and the first scoring end then C and D. After the second end of scoring arrows, rotation will apply, CD, AB, AB, CD and so on. We also use an AB/CD board that the judges will change after each end. In addition to the whistle signals the “traffic lights” will also be used see issue No134 (Feb. 07) for further details if need be or see that nice man Derek!

P.S. Sighting arrows are only permitted for the 25metre distance.

Other Information

Remember this is a Record Status Shoot so GNAS dress rules apply. Those of you who have an Eastern Area top will be permitted to wear this in place of white or green top. In addition, remember you will have to show your GNAS card at the registration table. Where you will be allocated your target number/letter.

Failure to do so will mean you will not be allowed to shoot. You will only have to do this at the morning session however, as you will use the same target for both sessions.

P.S.  Until this shoot has taken place the hall will be set up in it’s 25metre layout on Saturday nights. This will allow any members who have entered plus any visitors to practice for the shoot.

We will still have some targets at 20yards but there may be occasions where archers will have to shoot in 2 waves if any sessions are well attended, so be prepared for this eventuality if it arises.

And Finally

A London lawyer runs a stop sign and is stopped by a Glasgow copper

He thinks that he is smarter than the cop because he is a London lawyer from London and is certain that he has a better education than any Jock cop. He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at the Glasgow cop’s expense!!

Glasgow cop says, ”License and registration, please.” London lawyer says, ”What for?”

Glasgow cop says, ”You didn’t come to complete stop at the stop sign.”

London lawyer says,” I slowed down, and no one was coming,” Glasgow cop says, ”You still didn’t come to a complete stop, license and registration please, ”London lawyer says, ”What’s the difference?” Glasgow cop says, “The difference is, you have to come to a complete stop, that’s the law. License and registration, please!” London lawyer says, “If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I’ll give you my license and registration; and you give me a ticket. If not, you let me go and don’t give me a ticket.” Glasgow cop says, “Sounds fair,. Exit your vehicle, sir.” The London lawyer exits his vehicle. The Glasgow cop takes out his baton and starts beating the lawyer and says, “Do you want me to stop, or slow down?”

That’s it for another month,

                                                  Donald.
