THE ARROWHEAD

ISSUE NO.130 October 2006
Dear Members,
A warm welcome to all of you.
GNAS /SAA / E. Area Affiliation Fees for 2006 / 07.
Thankfully, all the fees have at last been paid and all members have been issued with their 2006/07 stickers.
The usual reminder to you all that if you have not already done so put your new sticker on to your GNAS card. I have recently spoken to GNAS and the current charges for lost items are as follows:-
Loss of sticker £1.50p
Loss of card £1.50p
Loss of sticker and card £3
The club will also charge you an additional fee to cover our costs in obtaining a new sticker/card. So if you lose any of these items see me at once.
You are further reminded that you must show a valid GNAS card if you shoot at any other clubs before being allowed to shoot. You must also show the card when you arrive to take part in a tournament. Failure to comply will again mean you cannot shoot, and this is also enforced even if the tournament is being hosted at our own club
BEGINNERS CLASS
A new class will be starting on 14th October, on Saturday nights (new start date).
To allow total separation of the class and regular members the hall will be divided in two, as it is on Wednesday evenings. The regulars will shoot in the Wednesday night half of the hall and the beginners in the other half.
The new class will be under the control of the whistle and the regulars will use verbal commands (e.g. clear). This will avoid any confusion between the two groups. If a class is not being run then the shooting range will revert back to the Saturday night layout.
TARGET FACES (PORTSMOUTH and 40 CM. Faces)
It has been brought to my attention that on Saturday nights some juniors, who are shooting on a boss on their own, have been placing the target faces on the centre of the boss. If only one target face is being used then please place it to one side of the boss as this will save premature softening of the centre of the boss. By the time you read this newsletter I will probably have spoken to most of you about this matter.
EASTERN AREA AGM
The above meeting will take place on Thursday 26th October at 7.30pm at Beeslack High School, Penicuik, and I hope some of you will attend in addition to myself. At the moment the committee consists of 4 Penicuik members and myself. When you consider that there are at least 500 plus members in the Eastern Area then you will appreciate that this is not a desirable situation to be in!
LASSWADE OPEN PORTSMOUTH
The above event will be taking place on Sunday 12th November and I hope that some of you will enter and help set up and take down the range. The range itself will have to be set up on Saturday the 11th, so the club session that night will end at 8.30pm.
We would also like some donations for the raffle please.

CLUB WEBSITE / ARROWHEAD
I was dismayed that many of you did not respond to my request as to how many of you wanted a paper copy of the newsletter or to read it on the website. For those of you who did not respond it will be assumed that you are viewing it on the website. If you do not already do so, then please try to do so at least once a week. Recently, we had to put up a notice regarding an unexpected cancellation of a Saturday night session. Remember, the website and the newsletter are there for your information. So as I said please use them.
O.K. Griggor!!!
P.S. Thanks to Mark and Frank for their work in getting the website re-designed and set-up.
