ISSUE NO.131                                                           NOVEMBER 2006

Dear Members,

Monthly greetings from your Club President.

CLUB NEWS

LASSWADE ARCHERY CLUB 28TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.

The above meeting will take place on Wednesday 29th November at 7.30pm and the venue will be the Lecture Theatre in the Lasswade High School.

The meeting is open to ALL members and if any of you do not know how to get to the venue then please see me. If any current committee member has a written report then bring it with you on the night or if you want it circulated at the AGM then get some copies made. The usual 3 things to remember, under article 22c of the Club’s Constitution only those members.

Secondly, under article 22d the Club President shall, if required, be entitled to cast one additional vote in the event of any tied votes.

Thirdly, there will be NO CLUB SESSION THAT NIGHT.

P.S. Notification of the AGM is also on our notice board.

CLUB NOTICE BOARD

A belated reminder to you all to check the notice board on your way in or out of the hall especially if you shoot on Wednesday  evenings as we have to bypass the main hall entrance and go through the changing rooms.

TOURNAMENT ENTRIES

The thorny issue of tournament entries once again!

It is now the accepted method for tournaments entry forms to be posted on the SAA Web-site and as a result of this shoots can now fill up quite rapidly.

As I have said on more than one occasion you can download any entry form and do your own entry. If you still want to do your entry through me then please bear in mind it may now be necessary for your entry to be sent off anything up to 2 months in advance of the closing date for entries.

If you do an entry through me then you will have to give me the correct fee (if you don’t have it, then get change from the reception centre) BEFORE I will put your name on an entry form. This situation can be quite painless if you simply make out a cheque to the tournament organiser, which I send off with the entry. The earlier the entry is sent off the greater the chance you will get a space and your preferred choice of the morning or afternoon session if applicable.

If you decide to enter after the entry form has been sent off then you will have to do YOUR own entry. You will only be allocated a space if any are left and you may also be charged a late entry fee on top of the normal fee. At the time of writing (mid October) I have a copy of the Eastern Area entry form, this shoot will be held on the 21ST JANUARY 2007!

This shoot can fill up quite quickly and is open to all archers regardless if they are members of the Eastern Area club e.g. Lasswade, Penicuik etc. So consider yourselves duly warned!

P.S.  November 18th will be my closing date for entries for the Eastern Area shoot.

ARCHERY UK

Practically all of you receive a copy every     3 months. What do you do with it? Throw it away? Read it then throw it away? Rather than do this I would be eternally grateful if you could pass any unwanted copies to me and I can give them to new members or beginners. They must however be in good condition e.g. No coffee mug rings or sticky finger marks!

GAMES HALL FLOOR

I  have been notified by the Sports Centre Manager that during February 2007 the entire floor in the main hall will be lifted and completely replaced.

I t is a forgone conclusion that some of our club sessions will have to be cancelled, but I will keep you up-dated on the situation nearer the time. Hopefully, our Worcester round will still go ahead at the beginning of March 2007.

NEW MEMBER

A warm welcome to our latest recruit Frazer Legge.

SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS

A usual seasonal reminder to you all that in the event of severe weather e.g. snow there may be occasions when the Sports Centre may have to close even in this era of global warming!

To that end all members should contact the Sports Centre, they will have the most up-to-date information on closures. You could also log onto the Midlothian Council website for information.

All members who have joined us in recent years will have all the appropriate contacts as part of their new members pack.
