NOVEMBER 2009
Dear Members,
Greetings from your
much loved Club
President.....................................................
CLUB NEWS
LASSWADE ARCHERY
CLUB 31ST
ANNUAL GENERAL
MEETING – 25TH
NOVEMBER 2009
All members are
hereby notified that
the above meeting
will take place in
Room B4 of the High
School at 7.30 pm
and all members
should attend.
If you have any
items to be
discussed then
please see Adelle
and it will be put
on the agenda.
As some of you may
know all posts on
the committee are
usually for a 3 year
period with all the
terms staggered so
it is not necessary
to elect a whole new
committee every
year.
Under these terms 2
posts become vacant
this year that of
Secretary and Trophy
Officer.
I would be shocked
but delighted if any
non – committee
member volunteered
but you do have the
opportunity to do so
and the terms would
run until 2012.
In addition, the
post of Vice –
President has become
vacant due to the
departure of Frank
and, should any –
one come forward it
would only be to
finish Frank’s term
of office until 2010
initially. The job
itself is not to
taxing as you merely
do what the
President (me) tells
you to do unless for
example I was hit
and killed by a
falling gargoyle in
which case you would
have to carry the
burden of leading
the Club. HA! HA!
All members are also
reminded that only
those who attend the
AGM are eligible to
take part in any
vote which may take
place and
additionally in the
event of a tied vote
the Club President
has one additional
deciding vote.
ADVERSE WEATHER
CONDITIONS
Now that winter is
setting in there may
be the odd occasion
due to heavy snow
etc. that Club
Sessions may be
cancelled. If you
are unsure before
setting off then you
should contact the
Sports Centre in the
first instance as
they will have the
most up – to – date
information. If you
phone them and do
not get an answer
then it is likely
that it will have
closed.
Alternatively, log
on to the Midlothian
Council Website for
closures of Council
Buildings. All
members who have
joined the Club in
recent years will
have the details as
part of their New
Members Information
Pack.
INDOOR OPEN
PORTSMOUTH ( UKRS )
– SUNDAY NOVEMBER 27TH
2009
As with last month’s
Combined Fita we
would like some
donations for raffle
prizes.
Apart from one of
the judges, myself
and Adelle we
received nothing
from the rest of
you.
I am sure you will
not disappoint me
this time!
We would also like
some help to get
things ready the
night before and
after the shoot on
the Sunday. Please
do not wait to be
asked as these
shoots are also run
for the benefit of
all active and
apathetic members!
If you are shooting
then remember the
dress rules and
bring your GNAS card
with you.

TOURNAMENT REPORT
LASSWADE OPEN
COMBINED FITA ( UKRS
) ( 1200 ) – SUNDAY
18TH
OCTOBER 2009
Four members entered
this year with Bill
MacKay as the senior
judge ably assisted
by the lovely Liz
Garrigan of Penicuik
AC.
As with most of our
shoots everything
went well until the
afternoon session
when one of the
visiting archers
came up to full draw
accompanied by a
sharp crack!
It soon became
apparent that the
bottom limb of his
bow had de –
laminated but he did
not sustain any
injury. I thought
that would be the
end of his session,
however, as this was
an equipment failure
he was allowed a
short delay and
handily had a spare
set of limbs!
An example of a well
prepared archer when
you consider the
hassle I have trying
to get some of our
members to carry
simple things such
as spare nocks and
fletches!
However, I digress.
Some good scores
were shot especially
as none of our
members had shot
this round before.
The best result of
the day from our
point of view came
from Gareth who shot
2 new Scottish
records for 25m and
the Combined.
The full results
were as follows with
the 25m score
followed by the 18m
score then the
combined score:-

I would like to
thank those of you
who stayed behind on
the Saturday night
to help get things
set up while others
simply went home.
Thanks are also due
to Susan Maitland,
Elayne Mclean and
Mark Smith of
Penicuik AC who
again saved the day
by helping us to get
the faces changed
after the 25m
distance and to the
visiting archers who
helped to get the
bosses and stands
away after the
shoot. If I have
missed any – one
then please accept
my apologies.
Lastly, thanks yet
again to Tina who
was our organiser.
