Dear Members,
Yes its’ newsletter time again!

CLUB NEWS

LASSWADE ARCHERY CLUB 33RD ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

All members are advised that our AGM will take place on Wednesday the 30th of November and the meeting will take place at 7.30pm at Lasswade Rugby Club. The reason for the change in location is due to anticipated strike action which will close our normal venue at the school. The link berlow shows the location of the rugby club:

The posts due for re-election this year are as follows:-

PRESIDENT                     TREASURER *                    EQUIPMENT OFFICER

The terms of these posts will run for 3 years until the end of November 2014.
*This post must be filled. No Treasurer = No club!

Under various articles of the Club Constitution only those members who attend the AGM will be eligible to vote and in the event of any tied votes the Club President will have one additional deciding vote.
If you have any business you want discussed then it can  be made in writing to Adelle by no later than one week before the AGM or in person at the AGM. However, if you will be attending you can bring any written proposals to the meeting but please get some photocopies made so they can be circulated on the night.
I would urge as many of you to attend this year’s meeting as amongst other topics we will be discussing is the proposed alternative outdoor range which could involve spending a large chunk of the Club’s savings and as this is YOUR Club as well we want to hear your views on this matter. At the time of writing the alternative venue offered by the Melville Golf Club has been inspected and approved as safe for our purposes but it would need some work done to it as well. A letter and the safety report have been submitted to the Golf Club for their approval and we will keep you up-dated as need be.
Due to the AGM there will be NO CLUB SESSION that night so don’t go to the games hall unless you want to get a football, shuttlecock or some other foreign body in your face!

ARCHERY UK (AUK) MAGAZINES

The usual request to you all if you do not require your copies of AUK after you have read them then you can please pass them on to me and I can give them to new members until they receive their own copies.

CHANGING YOUR ADDRESS?

If you are then please let me know ASAP so we can up-date our records and advise GNAS so things like your AUK Magazine and membership cards go to your new address.
NEW MEMBERS

Our latest Beginners’ Class ended last month with initially 12 people taking part although this dropped to 11. So a warm welcome to the 7 who survived the course and have joined our happy group. Seniors – Suzanne Teague, Mike Brockington, James Crombie, Jonathan Kent and Kevin Kent.  Juniors - Stephanie Blakey and Brodie Burton.

GNAS CARDS

By the time you receive this newsletter I hope that most of you will have received your new cards for 2011/2012. I received mine on New Hallows Eve. When you receive them make sure that your number is the same as last year, that’s the 7 or 6  digit number on the front of the card and sign the back of your new card as well. If you still have your old card for 2010/2011 then please destroy it. If you wish to shoot elsewhere or enter a tournament and you have still not received your new card by the beginning of next month then see me and I can issue you with a fee receipt slip which will be adequate proof that you are still entitled to shoot.

ENTERING TOURNAMENTS

If you wish to enter a tournament then there are 2 ways of doing this. The first way is to see Adelle or you can do your own entry by going on to the SAA Website. You can access the SAA Website from the homepage of the Club’s Website. Click on “EVENTS” on the SAA site. Go down the fixture list to the tournament you are interested in. Click on the icon at the far right of the appropriate shoot and this will download a copy of the entry form and the details of the tournament.
There are a few things for you to bear in mind. First there will be a closing date for entries for the shoot and this will usually be well before the date that the shoot is actually due to take place so it is advisable to get your entry in early as most indoor shoots in particular can fill up quite quickly. Unless there are spaces after the closing date then you may be too late.
Secondly, remember to enclose the appropriate fee with your entry form. No fee = no entry.
Thirdly, if you are under 18 then a parent or guardian must sign their name on the entry form.
Why is this? This is due to the fact that most tournaments have some form of Record Status and all Record Status shoots can be liable for drug testing so by signing the form you are agreeing that a person under 18 can be tested if requested to do so. A refusal will be treated as a positive result. I would like to stress that it is un-likely to happen as we have never had one at any Lasswade shoot I can remember but you should be prepared just in case.
Perhaps, if time permits, I will go through the dress regulations for Record Status Tournaments next month and if you have any problems with an entry form then please ask one of us for advice don’t wait until 5 days before the closing date. OK Katryn? Ha! Ha!

CLUB POLO SHIRTS

I have been approached by a few members recently who wish to purchase a Club polo shirt.
As we do not usually keep a stock of these then more would have to be ordered and to that end I have spoken to Derek who is the co-ordinator for polo shirts.
Before placing an order we need to know how many members would be interested.
Sizes start at small up to extra large but I do not know if the price has gone up since our last order. The previous price was £13.00 and the larger the order the cheaper they could be.
Derek has also said we could look into other items such as fleeces etc. So if you are interested then see us. I will of course advise you on prices and sizes at a later date.
