Dear Members,
Welcome to another action-packed edition of your favourite newsletter.
CLUB NEWS
CLUB FEES
Regretfully it is that time of year again when your Club fees become due. The closing date for this year will be Saturday 4th April 2009, and the fees remain unchanged at £60 Juniors/OAPs, £120 Seniors and £140 Family. Honorary Life Members are not required to pay the above fees.
If you are already paying your fees by standing order or direct debit then you need do nothing unless you wish to change your method of payment, if that is the case then please see our Treasurer, Joan. Please also remember that if you are paying your fees through a bank and you decide to leave the Club then you must notify your bank to stop any payments. The Club cannot do this for you.
The remaining members who pay on a one of basis or by cash instalments should pay accordingly to the Treasurer by April 4th. Any cheques should be made payable to “Lasswade Archery Club”.
See article 20.4 of the Club’s Constitution if the appropriate payment is not paid!
P.S. One other group of members who do not have to pay are any new members who have joined us from our recent beginners class. They will have already paid their fees to the Club.
FINDING A SPACE TO SHOOT.
I was somewhat surprised to see at a recent Club session that two of our established Juniors were not shooting. When I asked them why they said there was no target space for them to shoot from. On that specific night all ten bosses were in use with 2 archers per boss, which means there were no spaces. So how do you solve this problem? Simple! Once any/ or one archer has moved away after shooting the archer or archers who have not shot then take the available space. How else do four archers shooting at one boss at a tournament cope? Yes, they shoot in 2 waves of 2!
On most Saturday evening sessions members are spoilt because so few usually shoot so it is possible to have only 2 members per boss. If this is the case then when a space becomes free then get in there!
CANCELLED CLUB SESSIONS.
Please note that there will be no Archery on Saturday 28th March and Saturday11th April. Despite being promised that we would get some archery on the 7th and 28th March I received advice at very short notice that the boxing tournaments on these dates would take longer to clean up so the 2 sessions were to be cancelled. The other session on the 11th April is also cancelled due to the Easter holiday and although open that day the Sports Centre will be closing at 4.30pm.
NEW MEMBERS
Our latest beginners class ended last month and from 10, seven have joined us 4 juniors and 3 seniors. So a warm welcome to our new junior members Vanessa Wightman, Robbie Bradford, Matthew Paris and Ian Shepherd plus our new senior members Mariusz Mickiewitz, Geoff Shepherd and Brian Snell.
EQUIPMENT SAFETY
At a recent Club session I had to twice reprimand a member from leaning his bow against the green storage -cabinet as he clearly did not have a bow-stand. As a result of this the bow was knocked over and I nearly sustained an injury to my foot. Although most of you use a bow stand please remember that the cabinet is a work/storage area NOT a bow- stand!
If this happens again and a bow is damaged or a member injured the Club will in no way be responsible and the member may be told to leave the Club.
DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

AND FINALLY
I am no longer going to carry on with this item as I am not getting any submissions from members and if I repeat any items then I just get moaned at by some members plus the fact that a Club member thinks that some of the recent submissions have been a bit near the bone!
On that happy note this month’s edition is concluded.
Donald.
