Dear Members,
I am gobsmacked! A member has actually submitted an item for this newsletter.
It may only run to two sentences but it is none the less a remarkable achievement!!!!!
Before I had time pick my jaw up from the floor another remarkable thing has happened.
When visiting a branch of W H Smiths recently they were selling copies of the Bow International Magazine! Fancy that!
CLUB NEWS
CLUB FEES FOR 2011/2012
Yes it’s that time again folks so I hope you did not overspend at Christmas cos’ the Club would like some (compulsory) financial donations from you.
You will be pleased to know that all the fees remain the same but we have made some changes to the family membership rates.
In case you have forgotten here are the fees currently in force:-
SENIOR - £120.00 JUNIOR (Under 18) - £60.00 OAP (Over 60) - £60.00.
The FAMILY rates are now as follows:-
1 PARENT AND 1 CHILD £144.00
1 PARENT AND 2 CHILDREN £180.00
2 PARENTS AND 2 CHILDREN £240.00
ADDITIONAL CHILDREN £ TBA!!!!!!
A child is defined as under the age of 18 years. So sorry Scott , David may be your daddy but you will still pay a big boy’s fee. Ha! Ha!
Honorary Life Members are exempt from Club fees.
If you are making an annual payment then your fee must be paid by no later than Wednesday the 30th of March. However , if you pay by instalments or through a bank then you should carry on as usual unless your circumstances have changed. If you leave the Club then you must tell your bank to stop any further payments as the Club is not under any obligation to return over-paid fees. If you have any questions with regard to your fees then see Joan.
If you have not paid your fees by the 30th of March or any instalments agreed then your membership will be suspended until any arrears have been settled. Please see the Club Constitution for further information on this matter.
INDOOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS – SATURDAY 19TH MARCH 2011
Just to remind those of you who have not yet entered that I will only be taking entries up until Wednesday 16th of March. If you have not responded by the 16th then I will assume you are not taking part as I will not be changing the target list for latecomers.
If you have not done a tournament before then make sure you bring a pen with you which must be in blue or black ink only. Pencil is not permitted. I will of course go through anything else you will need to know nearer the time and please remember to be ready to shoot by 6.30pm. If you arrive late then you can still shoot but you will not be allowed to make up for any lost sighting or scoring arrows.
TOURNAMENT REPORT
SAA INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS (WRS) (600) – SUNDAY 6TH OF FEBRUARY 2011
Another low entry from Lasswade as would be expected for a Fita 18 round.
The results for our members were as follows:-
LADIES RECURVE BAREBOW
1ST – Adelle (329) New Scottish Record
GENTS RECURVE
24TH – Derek (475)
37th – Ian H (359)
GENTS COMPOUND
11th – Phil (551) New PB.
A fairly routine shoot with no problems but one memorable event.
I had arrived later in the day to help get things put away and was engaged in conversation with Adelle. We were also joined by a lady who turned out to be the SAA President.
Gareth was shooting nearby and the President thought I was Gareth’s daddy!
I don’t know who was more shocked , myself or Adelle!
Ships that pass in the night Adelle? Perhaps it was foggy the night our ships passed each other! Ha! Ha!

We come to the highlight of this month’s edition which is the following two – liner submitted by Joan.
What’s the difference between a bad archer and a constipated owl?
A bad archer shoots and can’t hit. A constipated owl..............................
On that happy note this edition is duly terminated.
