CLUB NEWS
AN APOLOGY

Oh dear! For the second time in 3 months I have to start the Club news with an apology and it concerns the Club session on Saturday 20th February.

At 4pm on that day the Sports Centre in their infinite wisdom thought it would be a good idea to inform me that the session for that evening was cancelled due to another boxing tournament. Apparently the Centre Manager assumed some-one else had informed me. This person in turn assumed some-one else had informed me. Do you get my drift?

then had to phone all the members who normally attend on a Saturday and if I missed anyone then please accept my apologies. I suggest that if any of you have an issue with this situation then you should direct your views and rotten tomatoes in the direction of the Sports Centre Management!

P.S. The Centre will give us a free session to compensate for the cancelled session and they will also be receiving my telephone bill!

CLUB FEES

All members are reminded that Club Fees must be paid by Saturday 3rd of April. They remain un-changed from last year and are as follows:-

SENIOR: £120.00
JUNIOR: £60.00
OAP (OVER 60): £60.00
FAMILY: £140.00 (Family = 1 parent and 1 child)

If you pay by Direct Debit or Standing Order through your bank then you need do nothing unless you wish to change your method of payment. If this is the case then please see Joan immediately. You should also remember that if you leave the Club then you must tell your bank to stop any payments as they will only stop them on your instructions. The Club is under no obligation to return any fees paid in error.

If you pay your fees in cash either by instalments or as a one-of annual payment then these should be given to Joan or you can pay by a cheque made payable to Lasswade Archery Club. Honorary Life Members are exempt from paying Club fees.

I would also refer you to Article 20 and Paragraphs 20.1, 20.2 and 20.4 of the Club Constitution with regard to non-payment of the Annual Club Fees.

If you have any questions or concerns then once again please see Joan.

NEW EQUIPMENT

After much debate and research the Club Committee agreed and purchased an Acer laptop and a Casio camera. This equipment will be used for coaching sessions as and when required and these items will be kept at the Sports Centre for easy access.

At the time of writing I can only assume that it will be our coaches and volunteers who will be permitted access to this equipment. If you have any questions then please see Mr. Equipment Officer. That’s Derek to the rest of you!

P.S. I am already out –of – date as Tina has used the laptop for the results of our tournament on the 7th and the camera was used for the first time at a Wednesday coaching session.

CLUB COLOURS

At last I can report that the on- going saga of our Club colours has been resolved.

Derek turned up at a recent Club session wearing a sample polo-shirt he obtained from a supplier and it looks good to me. They cost £12.99 each and this would also include getting our Club logo embroidered on the front although we would probably change the colour scheme to blend in with the red- bodied part of the polo shirt.

There only needs to be a minimum order of 6 polo-shirts and they are available in sizes from small right up to extra large sizes. I will be issuing a short questionnaire to all active members to gauge what the demand will be for them. The other part of our clothing ,the black trousers, can easily be sourced by yourselves. Let’s hope that GNAS don’t bring in a rule with regard as to how black the black has to be!

ARCHERY WORLD CUP – 2010 “ COME AND TRY” SESSIONS

Derek and myself have already spoken to some of you with regard to a request by the SAA for clubs to run 8 “Come and Try Sessions “, 4 each on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of September.

I do not propose to go into details here as you can read about it yourself on the SAA website directly or through the link from the homepage of the Club’s website. Basically, they are asking for at least 6 members each from 8 Clubs to run these sessions ( over 18s only ) . There are currently 10 members who have expressed an interest so far.

I appreciate that September is some-way of and that anyone may have to drop out but I don’t see why we could not have more than 6 members if more of you are interested.

I have already sent an application and the £50.00 fee to the SAA so we will now have to wait to see if we have been successful. I will keep you up-dated as and when I receive word from the SAA.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations to Billy who has become a Grandfather for the first time. Billy’s son Ross who many of you will know now has a daughter named Emma and on behalf of the Club congratulations to both families.
