 LASSWADE ARCHERY CLUB NEWSLETTER

  Dear Members,

After starting last months newsletter with some bad news I thought I would continue the theme with more bad news this month! Read on ……..

CLUB NEWS

It’s that time of year again when Club fees become due. Those of you who pay your fees by instalment can continue as usual with your preferred method of payment. Those off you who pay a one – off annual fee must make your payment by no later that 5TH April 2008. Your payment can be made in cash or by cheque made payable to Lasswade Archery Club. This should be given to Joan or in her absence, myself. Our recently joined members should see Joan or myself about their method of payment.

These are as follows:-

  Andrew and Ashley Hamilton,

Leon Kiteley, Charles Guest,

Eddie Barrett, Katryn Srsen,

Brian Taylor, James and Stephen McHale

 And the lovely Adelle Fleming!

If any fees are not paid by the 5th April or by agreed method of instalments then Club membership is suspended. As all member affiliations are still valid then a non- member can still shoot at the Club but they will have to pay a visitors target fee at each Club session. Please do not hesitate to speak to Joan or myself if you have any questions. If any of you leave the Club and are paying your fees through the bank then make sure you notify your bank to cancel any debits or standing orders as this has to be done by yourself. The Club cannot do this.

EQUIPMENT NIGHT

Keep Saturday 5th April free if you can. Although you can still shoot this will also be an equipment night and we hope to cover things such as fletching, string making etc. It will also be used to help newer members get their bows properly tuned.

S.A.A. EGM.

As the S.A.A. AGM back in December was not quorate an EGM had to be called to finalise certain matters, which could not be agreed at the AGM. You can get all the relevant news from the S.A.A. website which can be accessed through the home page of the Club’s website. However if you don’t want to do this then there are three items which concern most of us:-

(1)   S.A.A. Fees

For the 2008/09 season the S.A.A. fee is increased from £24.00 to £26.00 .One reason cited by the S.A.A. Committee is the amount of money spent on squads and teams has resulted in a shortfall in funds. Although the £2 increase is now in force none of us are affected until our annual renewals later in the year. The meeting approved the increase.

(2)   S.A.A. logo.

For some reason unbeknown to me no decision has been made yet on retaining or replacing the current logo.

(3)   S.A.A. President

At the meeting the term of office served by the President came to an end an Tina James was elected the new President.

May God have mercy upon her!

P.S. I am sure Tina does not want any fuss made so no bowing or curtsying is required!

CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING

All members are respectfully requested to attend the next meeting on Thursday 17th April 2008 at 7.30pm.in the usual venue.

Our new secretary Adelle Fleming has stated that if any committee member

so wishes she cam e-mail them a copy of the minutes of the meetings. All she requires is you to give her your e-mail address or if you want a paper copy then see Adelle.

THE ARROWHEAD

Just the occasional plea to all of you that if any of you want to contribute any items to the newsletter then please let me know. It is not my newsletter it is the Club’s newsletter.

If I have missed anyone then please accept my apologies.

P.S. At the Club session the following Wednesday there was some discussion about a different round for next year. As with the Double Worcester (until last year) another round with few or any Scottish Records is the Double Portsmouth so it has been decided to try this round in March 2009. Book early to avoid disappointment!

P.P.S. Whilst on the subject of tournament entries from now on Adelle will be your initial contact unless you do your own entries. At the time of writing I have no idea of how she will approach this task
