THE ARROWHEAD

ISSUE NO.146 FEBRUARY 2008
My dear fellow toxophilites,
Welcome to the news for February and what better way to start with than a dose of bad news.
CANCELLED CLUB SESSIONS
The Sports Centre have informed me of 3 Saturday nights in March which we will lose
They are as follows,
Saturday 1st Due to a boxing tournament.
“ 22nd Easter Holiday (Early Closing )
“ 29th More! boxing!
The remaining 2 Saturdays on the 8th and 15th will be O.K. as will all the Wednesday night sessions.
To compensate, if any of you wish to shoot through at Penicuik our club will cover the cost of your target fees. Penicuik shoot on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings. Please note that this arrangement will apply for the month of March only.
Due to the boxing events using practically the whole of the Sports Centre we will be unable to hold equipment nights on the 1st, 22nd and 29th of March as I had hoped.
MORE BAD NEWS!!!
Last month our new Club Treasurer Mark Smith informed me that due to work commitments he has had to stand down from the post. As I do not want to be crushed by the stampede of members volunteering to take over the post I can confirm that with immediate effect Joan has offered to take on the duties of Club Treasurer. I hope that you will all thank Joan for doing this as she has given up a lucrative post on her hill-walking club committee! Please Joan, just be careful and don’t fall down any rabbit holes as 3 treasurers in as many months is more than I can take!
Joan’s previous post of Secretary will be taken over by Adelle Flemming who actually suggested this idea.
Thanks, Adelle!
P.S. The previous Treasurers, Frank and Mark are now off my Christmas card list!
LASSWADE OPEN DOUBLE WORCESTER. (BRS) SUNDAY 2ND March 2008
Although we cannot shoot on Saturday 1st March I would still like as many of you as possible to come along for 8.30 pm to help set up for the shoot on the Sunday, and to help to pack up on the Sunday afternoon. If some of you cannot break the habit of a lifetime and help out then can you please donate some prizes for the shoot’s raffle. At the time of writing only 3 members have entered the shoot so far this year I do not intend to publish the rules for the Worcester round. If you have any questions then please see Derek or myself on the day or on the day the judges will go over the rules.
INDOOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS SATURDAY 15TH MARCH 2008

This year’s round will be a Portsmouth and all members should arrive by 6pm for a 6.60pm start. If you arrive late you can still shoot but you will not be allowed to make up any lost sighting or scoring arrows. For newer members, we have to start early as it can take about 2 hours to shoot the round. We then have to retire to the cafeteria for the presentations and hopefully refreshments (lady members take note!) and be out of the building by 9.30pm.Those of you who like to keep your own scores should do this when you are not shooting don’t wait till after the shoot as we can’t waste time for you to do this. Also remember to add up all your hits and golds and sign your score-sheet. So that I can prepare a target list all members will receive an entry form. All you have to do is put your name on it and return it to me by the 8th March at the latest. If it is not returned I will assume you are not entering.
Would the following members please return their Quaiches on or before the day of the shoot :-
Ladies -- Joan, Gents -- David R., Junior -- John, Compound -- Billy.
Happy Shooting!
CLUB WEB-SITE
As I mentioned some months ago I hoped that we could have a (Items For Sale / Wanted) page on our website. Jack has announced that he is now able to do this.
So if any of you are looking for something jot down the relevant information and get us to check it over first. Any deals between yourselves and potential buyers will be your own responsibility.
Remember if your equipment is second hand then please don’t expect to get what you originally paid for it!
P.S. This webpage is for archery equipment only.

CLUB CONSTITUTION
At the time of writing Derek is putting the finishing touches to a revised edition of the Constitution. All members will receive a copy in due course.
KEYS KEYS

I was distressed to hear that at a recent Club session a member had tried to force the storage cabinet open. As there were no keys available. Can I remind ALL members that the following members have keys to all the storage areas:- Myself, Derek, Joan, Frank, David R, and Billy. In the event of a key holder or all key holders not being at a Club session then you can get keys from the Main Reception but please return them before you leave the Centre. O.K. Russell!
P.S. Russell, if you want to take up the offer to shoot through at Penicuik as you did the last time then please wash your face especially if you have been eating Kebabs. Ha/Ha!
