CLUB NEWS

AFFILIATION FEES FOR 2007/08

It is almost that time of the year again when you have to get your chequebooks out to renew the above fees. Remember these are your compulsory affiliation fees NOT your Club fees. As I mentioned a few months ago the fees for senior members have increased from £52-00p to £57-00p this is for your GNAS, SAA and your Eastern Area fees.  Junior members will continue to pay £10-oop each (un-changed) towards their share of the Junior Block fee. Disabled Club members block fee has also increased from £42.50p to £45 (SAA only, GNAS exempt) plus, for the first time, disabled members shall also pay £1-oop for the Eastern Area that all the other senior members have to pay. This was an Eastern Area decision. Based on our current 3 members this would mean each of them pay £16-00p as their share of the disabled block fee. However should the number of disabled members fall below 3 then the remaining members would have to pay the full adult fee of £57-00p as per GNAS rule’s.

GNAS have sent the Club a complete list of all our current members plus new GNAS card stickers for 2007/08. Payment can be made in cash or by cheque made payable to Lasswade Archery Club.

When your payment has been made to Frank or myself then I will issue you with your new sticker for 2007/08. Payment must be made by no later than Saturday 29th September 2007 or anytime now if you wish.

WARNING !!!

Last year several members were late in paying their fees .If any of you do not pay by the 29th September then you will have three options open to you.

(1)   You will not be able to shoot for the 2007/08 Season. See also ARTICLE19 of the Club Constitution.

(2)   (2) You can affiliate through another club if they are prepared to take you on.

(3)   (3) You can affiliate as an ordinary member of GNAS. Which is a more expensive option and you would be responsible for this yourself.

P.S. All members have received a paper copy of “The Arrowhead” for this month only. That way

No members who read the web site version can say they knew nothing about the fees!

NEW MEMMBERS

A warm welcome to three new members-James McHale and his son Stephen, and shortly afterwards we were also joined by Eddie Barrett who is of “free bus pass age” and joins our Veterans section (members over 60) consisting of Derek, David R and Bill C.

MEMBERS OLD EQUIUPMENT

A few months ago I informed you that the Club is no longer able to purchase any of your old equipment due to the lack of storage etc. However, I have cast my mind back a few years and remember the odd occasion any unwanted equipment was advertised in our Club newsletter. Now we have a web site that can be seen by many people out-with our club I think we should have an “Items For Sale” section, which can be used by any member. If any of you want to go down this road then see me. A few things for you to remember! You will have to list such things as bow type, make and model, draw weight, right or left handed, arrow length and spine rating plus any other items you may wish to list. Try to ask for a realistic price as you unlikely to get the price you originally paid. You will also have to provide contact details and any contact will be between you and the potential buyer.

LASSWADE OPEN COMBINED FITA  ( BRS.)   21ST OCTOBER 2007

I can now provide you with some details of the above shoot. As most of you have never shot this round here are the rules.

The morning session involves shooting 5- dozen arrows from 25 metres at a 60cm. Portsmouth face. Compound archers will shoot the 3 spot 60cm. vertical face.

For the afternoon session another 5- dozen arrows will be shot this time from 18 metres at a 40cm. target face with the compound archers shooting at a 3 spot 40cm vertical face.

Due to the fact the hall will have to have a 25- metre line we will not be able to have the usual 13 targets and we will not know the available space until we get back into the hall on Saturday the 1st September. Anybody who enters this shoot will have to shoot both distances and the entry fee will be £18 for all archers. The entry form will go on the SAA web site as soon as we know how many archers can be accommodated, probably 40/44 over 10/11 targets.

You can do your own entry or if you wish to enter through me then see me NOW as there have already been enquiries from other clubs and we expect the available spaces to be filled very quickly! Remember, if you enter through me then I must have your entry fee, Before, I put your name on the entry form. Payment can be cash or cheque made payable to Lasswade Archery Club.

Can I remind you again that entries will be for both distances only, so do not enter unless you feel able to do the complete round. For those of you who are entering we have a good supply of all the required faces for recurve and compound archers.
